My students are my teachers

Walking down the school corridor I heard unhurried footsteps and a humming voice. The break was just over and every student was supposed to be in his class. I recognised Faisal Ahmed of class seven, walking nonchalantly with one hand in his pocket. About to shout at him as is customary of a teacher , I stopped short. He stopped by me, wished me and continued his stride humming the tune.
He was humming "Raghupati Raghava RajaRam...".
An eye openwer for me. We as educationists try to inculcate so many values democratic and social, amongst the children might be failing to strike the right chord. Left to their own devices kids have their own sense and sensibilities in place.
Let's give them the space and time to deal with their own devices.
